Even Hook, while still an unpleasant guy, has shades of genuine affability here, whereas in the movie not so much. They only seem to go along with Hook because he's their Captain, and in some episodes are practically rooting for the kids. Affably Evil: Smee (even moreso than in the movie), Sharky and Bones fit this to a T, half the time you wouldn't even know they're villains.Granted, Hook has always had trouble defeating children, but in this case it is particularly glaring. Adaptational Wimp: Captain Hook, Memetic Badass and much-loved villain of Peter Pan comes back to menace the kid heroes of the Dora-esque show missing about half his brain cells and with a somewhat off-putting redesign.Jake and the Never Land Pirates provides examples of: Notable for being one of only two traditionally animated series in the Disney Junior era along with The Lion Guard, as all other series are completely CGI. ![]() This new season features an upgraded appearance for "Captain Jake," but has also stated to "likely" be the last season of the show due to Disney's standard 4-season limit, though this may simply be "scuttlebutt." This did turn out to be true however and the series finished its five-year run in 2016. The program's fourth season premiered in September 2015, commissioned as Captain Jake and the Neverland Pirates. There was also a series of shorts titled Jake's Neverland Pirate School. New episodes began airing on February 20, 2012, though each "new" episode actually consists of one original story and one repeat. In December 2011, it was officially announced that the program was returning for a second season. One of the specials even featured Wendy, John and Michael (and Nana). The program contains occasional references to Peter Pan and Tinker Bell and later episodes sometimes contain appearances by them as well. Hook is "aided" by his usual bumbling sidekick Smee, and Bones & Sharky, two even-more-dimwitted pirates who seem to exist for little more than to swab the deck and sing comic songs. They're a group of " pirates" who just want to have fun and do the things ordinary kids do, but their time is often spent chasing after Captain Hook, who is always trying to steal their stuff. Set in the universe of the classic Disney film Peter Pan, the program focuses on the adventures of the young Jake and his two friends, Cubby and Izzy, along with their parrot, Skully. Yo ho, let's go! Jake and the Never Land Pirates is a 2011 animated series airing on Disney Junior, one of three new programs that helped to launch the network along with Babar and the Adventures of Badou and Tinga Tinga Tales. ![]() ![]() ![]() Treats members receive free shipping on select orders over $49.00, prior to taxes & after discounts are applied. The following is an article from The Best of the Best of Uncle John's Bathroom Reader. ![]() ![]() ![]() The first one, known as the dwell period, is pretty important, as the longer it is, the more power you get in the second circuit. This steps up the power from a mere 12V to around 40kV using two circuits, called windings. The CoilĪ massive voltage, generated by the coil, creates the spart at the end of the plug. Incorrectly seated plugs will sap about 40 percent of your power.Ĭheck out our spark plugs guide for more info on plugs.Ĭoil upgrades are usually seen on older engines. Check your car’s manual for the proper tightening sequence, but don’t overdo it. There are two types: ones with washers (flat seat) and ones without (tapered). Generally, you should make sure that your plugs are seated properly. However, this could indicate that your plugs are too cold. New plugs will have had less chance to foul up and will be a certain colour – you won’t tell much from black, carbon-choked plugs. However, this is only truly effective with new ones and a hard drive of about 500–1000 miles. But, if you’re that into plugs, you can tell a lot about how your engine is running and performing by ‘reading’ them. Don’t clean them with a wire brush or a sandblasting machine, as you’ll cause contamination (leading to shorts) or trapped abrasive (which can potentially damage the bores). Spark plugs generally last about 20,000 miles, but you should be checking them at every service interval. A more compressed charge generally requires less spark duration, because it’s more combustible, although inevitably there are exceptions. Again, a lower performing engine generally needs a bigger gap for the same reasons. Plugs gapped correctly create optimum performance. However, this is an area that you will need to consult your engine tuner about, as what needs doing will vary according to the modifications you’ve made. Then, you generally need colder plugs, which means they’ll transfer heat away much faster. You can see that if you raise the temperature within the combustion chamber by increasing the compression ratio (CR). Colder plugs that are correctly gappedīut you can also help with your plugs – a low-performance engine generally requires hotter plugs, since it needs to retain heat to provide a more efficient burn. This is why we install stuff like more efficient cooling systems and alloy heads. This additional heat needs to dissipate quickly to avoid overheating. However, if you increase performance, the engine’s operating temperature also rises. This is obviously calculated with your engine’s standard level of performance in mind. Your plugs will operate within a heat range. In a modern car, that figure is likely to be 40kV or more, and generated by the coil. This requires a minimum of 14,000V, or 14kV, of electricity. ![]() The plug provides the spark, which jumps an air gap from its central electrode to its earth. The easiest and most logical place to start is the spark plugs. Tracing a misfire can be a real headache. It can happen on a standard car, of course, but another likely cause is that you’ve tuned your engine and your components don’t match. The most common ignition fault scenario is that jerking, coughing, and spluttering sensation that drives everyone nuts. Plugs operate within a certain heat range. However, it does help to know what the old stuff did in order to understand why modern systems are better. Hence, there’s a lot less ‘stuff’ in a modern ignition system than there used to be. In turn, making the whole system more efficient and reliable. Although the fundamentals of spark production haven’t changed dramatically over the years, manufacturers have concentrated on removing mechanical discrepancies. The thing is, there’s a million ways to do the job. This pushes the piston back down the bore, turning the crank, and everyone knows you need a spark to do this. That, plus the ability to ignite that combustible charge at the correct time. The fundamentals of any petrol engine are an ideal ratio of air to fuel. You never know, you might discover power you didn’t know you had! With this in mind, we thought we’d take a look at the essentials of ignition systems. Of course, you can bypass this agony by swotting up first. Then it becomes a case of learning very quickly and trying to put it right. That’s until you get a misfire, or worse, a melted piston due to too much ignition and not enough fuel. Many people pay no attention to their ignition system, whether it’s a modified car with a tuned engine or not, until something goes wrong. ![]() Find out how to keep it running sweet with our in-depth guide. Neglecting your car’s ignition system can mean losing power. ![]() ![]() The four that exorcise male psychoses by mock celebration are positively addictive, the two uncomplicated rockers do the job, and two of the purely 'serious' songs get by. ![]() The further these songs get from Ronstadtland, the more I like them. Reviewing in Christgau's Record Guide: Rock Albums of the Seventies (1981), Robert Christgau wrote: In addition, there are two ballads about life and relationships ("Accidentally Like a Martyr" and "Tenderness on the Block"), as well as the funk/ disco-inspired "Nighttime in the Switching Yard". I don't believe you can spend $8 in many better ways then to invest in not only a game, but an experience that is amazing, and can't be found anywhere else. Unlike many other iPad games, this one is a complete sequel that was in production just in time for the iPad being revealed, and has taken full advantage of the device. The game costs $8 while the iPhone version that launched at $5 is down to $3 after being out for over a year. There are really no problems with Zen Bound 2 on the iPad. The game is reborn on the iPad with the extra room, and finer visual and audio detail adds to every aspect of the app. This is as immersive as anything can be on a digital interface. The music adds to the overall Zen experience wonderfully, and wouldn't be the same without it. It's a 45 minute soundtrack from Ghost Monkey who supplied the music for the original. The included soundtrack is exquisite, and you'll never once think to play your own music. From the opening trees to the stunning backgrounds you see the amount of polish, and the overall amazing design of every aspect of this game. The texture of the wooden objects looks real, and the flow of the paint onto the objects is so seamless and believable. The game is jaw droppingly beautiful, and probably the best looking app on the iPad. It's an amazing experience that is enhanced in this sequel running on the iPad. It is as Zen as can be to just go in the app sit back and relax in the calming mechanic of wrapping rope around wood to paint them. Overall the game is unlike any other game in that it's not about score or time, but rather only completion with all hectic items taken out of the equation. You don't need a tutorial or even need to think, you just pick it up, and automatically know what to do, and it's a breeze doing it. It's as close as you can get to actually wrapping rope around wooden objects. You have room to put multiple fingers, and even both hands on the iPad screen, and it feels so intuitive. The biggest addition is more screen real estate to truly manipulate these 3D objects in 2D space. The rest of the trees have the traditional mechanic though paint seems to spread just a tad bit further from the rope. Your goal is to touch the nails which explodes a circle of paint around it, and therefore you just need to wrap the rope from nail to nail, and not around the object. Other trees have paint bomb nail across the entire object. When you touch the glowing paint bomb to the object it covers a larger area in paint, so it's easier and faster to cover more of the object. Some trees have paint bombs on the rope that appear at certain lengths of the rope. New gameplay mechanics are also included to ease the tediousness of some levels. The trees are also split up in difficulty so it amps nicely as you go from tree to tree. The trees have fewer levels so there is a greater sense of accomplishment, and more unlocking which adds intrinsic reward. Zen Bound 2 features nine trees with all the iPhone levels enhanced for the iPad. ![]() Both of those problems have been addressed and enhanced in Zen Bound 2. Also, with only three trees in that version you could get bored, and never make it to the truly challenging levels. Zen Bound on the iPhone is an experience like none other on any platform, though there is some tediousness. You unlock new levels by earning certain numbers of flowers. In every level there are three completion intervals, 70% painted, 85% painted, and 100% painted with each earning 1, 2, or 3 flowers respectively. Then you use multi-touch to spin the wooden object 360 degrees. To control the rope you use the accelerometer to change the direction the rope comes in on. ![]() On top of that there are brand new levels only on the iPad which make up a majority of the game. All of the iPhone levels are included completely redesigned for the iPad. ![]() Each tree has a specific theme, and you will see certain similar wooden objects and gameplay mechanics in a tree. Zen Bound 2 features over 100 levels across nine different trees. Your goal is cover the object 100% in paint with a given amount of rope. The basic premise of the game is to wrap rope around 3D wooden objects, and paint expands from the rope. Zen Bound 2 is a sequel as the name suggests, and not just an iPad version of Zen Bound. ![]() |
